You've been given links to really good websites. I have a couple favorites to add, plus some books.

I don't know how much reading you enjoy doing so fair warning that some of these are pretty big books and they are all ones I've read.

Jewish Literacy ~~ Really big book. But it's very in depth and will make you aware of religious and historical links that standards histories skip over. This is one of my favorite reference books.
Becoming a Jew ~~ Complex. It will make you question everything you believe, regardless of what you believe
The Jewish Book of Why ~~ I'd start with this one. It's a very quick read and explains things well.

If you go to amazon.com and type in judaism, you'll get about five or six pages of books from reputable sources.

I Suggest you check out the Wikipedia entry on Judaism as a starting point. It has lots of links to more detailed and specific entries.

One of the best starting points, IMO, is Abraham Heschel's -Shabbat-. It doesn't take too long to read, covers a lot of the most important points, and really conveys the beauty of Judaism.

Start with the Old Testament and if that does not horrify you to death, go on to the other books.
