A mechanism is some technical aspect of a larger process or mechanical device, a part or combination of parts designed to perform a particular function. Sometimes an entire machine may be referred to as mechanism. Some examples are the steering mechanism in a car, or the winding mechanism of a wristwatch, or the mechanism of action of a drug or medication. In chemistry, a reaction mechanism is the step by step sequence of elementary reactions by which overall chemical change occurs.Something resembling a machine in the arrangement and working of its parts.
