The flesh is sinful.

The spirit is pure.

Also implied is that the person you mention thinks that despite his/her sinful flesh, he/she is going to heaven. He/she must know, somehow, that he/she is forgiven already; sort of like icing on the cake of life.

Must be nice to have your flesh and eat it too. :))

I've never heard that exact statement. But before we come to a saving faith in Jesus, our souls do belong to satan/ the flesh. We don't just die and belong to heaven, regardless of what the world thinks. We only belong to God by accepting His Salvation and His ways to attain Eternal life.

I don't know what that statement means but, until you acept Jesus Christ as your personal savior you do belong to satan.
The moment you Accept Jesus Christ as Savior, you are Saved. Meaning...you belong to the family of God, and when you die you will go to heaven.
It seems that you are searching.
Read: St John , Chapter 1
Read: Hebrews, Chapter 1 , 2 & 3
Read: St Luke - Tells the Story
Salvation comes to those who repent and believe.
This day will you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior (It's Personal)

It means that while alive on Earth their body is subject to all the temptations of a Satan-influenced society.

And while living in hope and assurance of God our Savior, we still have hope of redemption and being with Him for eternity in His heavenly Kingdom when we die.

People think that once you are born you are born as a sinner. A lot of people think that the world is full of sin and that no one can be incapable of sinning. Therefore, living is belonging to stan since in order to live you have to sin (so they think) or you are more capable of sinning. However, when you die; you are no longer a part of this world and are being judged by God and being sent to the afterlife where God decides where you go...therefore, you belong to God.

To some extent. Body related to 5 senses. Satan tries us to go aganist God.through senses. Cosmos is God. It is Macro cosmic. Body after death disintegerates into 5elements. It is Micro Cosmic.

I don't know. But the Bible says not to give our body over for Satan's use. So the Spirit of God empowers us to overcome sin, if we want to. The Bible also says our bodies are God's, not our own.

It means they are duelists. They believe the body is in two parts which they call the flesh and the spirit. They think the body is corrupt, and the spirit is pure, whatever that means. It's part of how religion gets people to flog themselves.

Religion uses many types of emotional manipulation to sway converts. One prime example is telling them how awful they are and how the church's superstition can make them good. People are naturally insecure, so this is an effective way to influence them. One way they enhance this self-loathing is by making rules that if you are a human, you can't follow. They'll even tell you that thinking about certain things taints you somehow, even though this is something you can't really control. And even if you manage to convince yourself that you are following the rules good enough, they toss in concepts like "original sin" to make sure you think you're not worthy for Heaven. So, between natural human nature, threats of Hell, and promises of Heaven, this becomes an cruelly effective tool for filling the pews and getting people to follow like sheep.

I think it means that they'll do whatever they want, sin or not, while on Earth, earnestly repent, and then spend eternity with God in Heaven.

Pretty pathetic if that is indeed what it means.

Sounds like they mean that while they are alive, Satan is always tempting them. When they are dead, they go to heaven to be with God.
