the first thing to go is the fuel system, gas reallly starts to degrade after 6 to12 months, add Stabil to increase the length of storage, Stabil says "keeps fresh up to 12 months. So if it's going to be longer than a year I would drain the fuel system. But then the gas tank starts to rust, so some say to store if with a full tank, but add some stabil and maybe some 2 cycle oil. That's what I did on my motorcycle.

It also depends if it's stored inside, the motor will not freeze up for years inside. It make take a few years outside too. The tranny already needs work, so don't worry about it.

When you get ready to fix it, you will have to drain everything and put in fresh. If it's been more than a few years, you will have to clean the tank and fuel injectors, and replace the whole brakes system.

I'm not sure about the time frame we are talking about here. If you are talking about a year then I think SVOMAN gave you a good answer. You may want to change all the fluids before you stow it, the oil and the brake fluid, the coolant, PS fluid. That away there will be fewer contaminants in the fluids to cause problems. If you can also start the car monthly, and get it up to operating temp, and run the AC if so equipped, will help keep the seals lubricated and not dry out and leak.
Good luck

depends on how bad your transmission is, its gonna break down pretty bad someday if u leave it there

decide how much u want to spend and how good u want it to be running, replace the battery and fix the transmission. With no other problems, u can sure keep it as weekend car

Cars have been in storage for years without running and still run just fine. The trick is all in how you prepare it for storage. Wet and damp conditions are the biggest enemy of storage. It's also good to fire it up every few months and let it come up to operating temp. This will be helpful in preventing seals from drying out and failing.

This car needs daily attention. How could you save for weekends only?
