death bead ? If they don't die suddenly in a crash or some
other way and they have time to think about there life and
have a chance like the thief on the cross to repent. Would it be
stupid to ignore salvation even past there last breath? What
percentage do you think would rather risk going to hell?
Thanks for your take on this.

good question wayne, i wondered that too. these people just really dont beleive. sad, but true. i hope they all find God one day. its a good feeling to put your fears and worries into God's hands and be taken care of.

I am quite sure that some lifelong atheists question their worldview or even fervently hope there is a god on their death bed... and I'm equally sure that this is very good evidence that gods don't really exist, and are only believed in for emotional rather than rational reasons.

The 'No atheists in foxholes' argument backfires spectacularly on theists.

Um, the Darwin myth revisited? His kids denied that he "found god" on his deathbed. Even if a lifelong atheist became religious as they were about to die, I would chalk it up to drugs or a reduced mental state. If it were a religious fundie who denounced god on there deathbed it would certainly be ignored by their friends and family.

It would only be stupid to "ignore salvation" if there was evidence to support Christianity's central claim: that faith in the sacrifice of Jesus guarantees eternal life in Heaven.

So how about it? Have you talked to anyone recently who is currently enjoying eternal life in heaven?

No the Christians get a horrifying shock.

As their consciousness fades into non-existance they realize that they wasted huge amounts of their lives on a totally pointless exercise.

There are so many religions, all spawned by fear of death and hardship in life. To think the capital "G" god religion is "the right one" is arbitrary, childish, and unimpressive. "The cross" huh? Pathetic.

It's not a risk.

Heaven and Hell are superstitions. There's no risk in ignoring myths. God doesn't exist.

Of all the deathbeds I've sat beside of atheists, not one has 'found god' in their last moments. In fact, most of them just chuckled and muttered something to the effect of, "guess this is it..."

What risk of hell? Atheists do not believe that hell exists. They would not be worried about that "risk".
