I keep hearing Christians say that they can't wait for Jesus to come, etc. Of course, this is a huge part of their belief and I understand how, if you believe the Bible, you would be please to be going to heaven to hang out with Jesus, but my concern is that, as our educational system declines and our degree of religiosity rises, will this not be the impetus, at least potentially, for violence? I mean - and I know this is a slipery slope, but it's really just an example - what if we someho3w end up with a radical Christian General in the army or on the Joint Cheifs of Staff? Could he not, believing that the end would bring about the return of Jesus, launch nukes?

Okay... maybe that's a bit much. But didn't Charles Manson commit the most heinous crimes of the 20th century because of his interpretation of the Book of Revelations? How do we prevent the people who BELIEVE they are Christians from commiting heinous acts in order to bring about the apocalypse?

It's a popular belief in America today that global warming is the second coming. So they figure it's not worth worrying about.

I believe I heard a higher up in Washington say that not long ago, actually. He literally was quoted as saying that he wasn't concerned about global warming, as Jesus would be back within 50 years or so anyway.

I'm beyond scared of these people at this point. I'm more into the preparation stage of isolating myself and my family from them, so when they start killing each other off, they will have a hard time reaching me and my supplies...

(Does anyone else notice that many of the Christians posting here are (as usual) completely missing the point of this question? She's not asking if someone's going to bring about your blessed apocaplypse. We know only your "god" can do that. But does it not frighten you that there are people in this world with the power to do irreparable damage to the world, that may do so in an attempt to bring it about anyway?)

The Apocalypse, or the Battle of Armageddon, will not be brought about by anything man does or does't do. It will come only in God's timing. He is the only One who knows when the end will come. If some nut case deides he is going to hasten the second coming of our Savior, then that person needs to read the Bible. There are many scriptures that allude to the fact that NO MAN knows the day or the hour when the Son of Man cometh. ! All down through the ages , different people thought they knew, and made a spectacle of themselves for nothing. God will decide when His Son will come back, and all we need to do is be ready, spiritually, for that day. Hope that helps you.oxox

Still assuming no "WWE" advantage: Terry Funk. As I said before, if he couldn't out-wrestle you he'd out-fight you. If he couldn't out-fight you, he'd out-"crazy" you. Bret Hart. Hate to see Dynamite leave so soon, but the Hitman would just out-wrestle him and make him tap to the Sharpshooter. Sting. A little better wrestler than Savage, I think. Sting would win by submission to the Scorpion Deathlock. Chris Benoit. Damn...what a match-up! Chris' strength advantage would be the difference here. Dean would eventually tap to the Crippler Crossface. Kurt Angle. As great as Owen was, so is Kurt. Kurt's meaner and more ferocious. No submission here, Kurt would just have to wear Owen out and pin him. Hulk Hogan. Hogan CAN wrestle. He's bigger and stronger than Austin, too. The Undertaker. Shawn's good, real good. I just think the Undertaker can beat him. Ric Flair. Flair had no trouble out-wrestling the big guys. The Rock would be no different.

It can blow your mind, baby!

A) But seriously, he already did come again - it says so in the Bible, and that the 2nd Coming would be "soon". He appeared to His Disciples soon after the Crucifixion. Doh.;
or
B) He's still buzzing off the First Coming, so don't expect him anytime soon;
or
C) The Revelations stuff, boiled down, says: It will get better, but until then expect a Roman Empire style oppressive government, and quit with the complaining already and be patient.
or
D) Charles Manson also listened to the Beatles too much (The White Album).
or
E) The realisation within one's own Cosmological Spirit of the Jesus Christ principle (Anointed - Christos; Redeemer - Jeheshu'h) is analogous to Enlightenment (which itself may Blow Your Mind, and is not so much an End as a Beginning, Mahayana (religious) Buddhism be consigned to Nirvana, as they say), and so the 2nd Coming, as a Mystical Concept, can be Fatally Dangerous. As St.Paul said, "Die Daily".
or
F) it all. There are better things to worry about than some block/jar-heads justifying their shitey behaviour with a book so badly parsed you could garnish any side dish with it.

OK Charles Manson was nothing but a lire, and crazy if he thought he was suppose to kill people to bring the apocalypse!

I know that people like him and other people say they did something because God told them to and they get plastered all over the new. But the truth is the Majority of Christians BELIEVE STRONGLY that you shouldn't murder or take things in to your own hands, because you can't make God bring on the apocalypse, we can't make God do anything.

No, because the only way to hasten Jesus return is for the "full measure of Gentiles" to come to the Lord. That means the best way to get Him to return is to carry out the Great Commission and preach the Gospel to the whole world rather than nuking anyone. If you want someone to use nukes to prepare the way for their "savior" look to Iran's president.

No one person can bring about the apocalypse...
Anyone who is a Christian that studies God's Word knows that God is in control and the Second Coming will only happen in God's time.
Only God knows when and exactly how this is going to happen. Revelations gives us a glimpse into what things are going to be like (not pretty for those who are left behind) but it does not reveal when it will happen.

There are two events the Bible teaches about.
The first is the Rapture of the Church. Occuring prior to the Second Coming, all true Christians will be somehow removed from the Earth.
That event happens within seven years of Jesus' Second Coming.
When He does come again, and if you are still on earth, you should know that He comes to judge and set things aright on earth.
But the time between the Rapture and the Second Coming is a time of great trouble on the Earth. Fortunately, it is only a temporary period of seven years. But it'll be a doozie!

Huh? When Christ returns,we will all be changed into spiritual bodies.How can this be dangerous?However,if you are referring to the "rapture" theory,christians are`nt going nowhere.This 'rapture" isnt in the Bible.The anti-christ comes first at the sixth trump.Jesus comes at the seventh.And Charles Manson was mentally sick.

Your argument is reasonable and appropriate, but there's even more to it than that...
1. The whole afterlife idea is dangerous as is evident by R&S Xian posts asserting that since there's a heaven, life on earth is not as important - How responsible would a White House Denizen be averting war with *that* attitude?
2. The idea that Jesus/God will protect Xians no matter what is dangerous, as is evident by R&S Xian posts asserting that nuclear war CAN NOT HAPPEN - How responsible would a White House Denizen be averting war with *that* attitude?
