I am a nurse in the ER in Iowa....and I have never seen anybody treated like that I think that hospital needs to be shut down and the second 911 operator needs to be fired he was very rude and should of taken it more seriously. The hospital should of put her on there priority I realize LA is busier than Iowa but they should be amply staffed to take care of the critical care patient load its called triage and the most important get care first until stable and then everything else there after. I was madder than mad and I would be embarrassed to be affiliated with that hospital we are here to help people not leave them to die that is why they call it an EMERGENCY ROOM! There should be a suit filed for wrongful death because if they would of gotten her stabilized immediately they could of gotten her to surgery and would be alive right now as long as there is not any complications.

That is horrible! I was at an ER a few months ago and there was a 70+ yr old woman that had a stoke and was brought in by ambulance and they just wheeled her into the waiting room and she sat for over 4 hours! The time right after a stroke is where the Drs can help you the most and they just left her there. She could not even feel the left side of her body...head to toes! OUTRAGE! Something needs to be done fast!
The saddest part is that that hospital is under investigation for others that have died the same way!

It is an outrage that the hospital was so negligent.

As a patient or relative/friend of a patient, you really have to be proactive. I guarantee you if I had a friend or family member or saw a patient puking up blood and not getting the attention they needed, I'd be raising hell. I'd be yelling and screaming and demanding attention so much so that if the medical staff didn't do something right away then the security officer would have to escort me out. If the hospital were too backlogged or didn't pay attention, I'd be headed to another hospital.

The people shouldn't have been calling 911, but should've been calling another hospital to find out if they could get in right away. I think the 911 operators in this LA women's case were rather rude. If I were a 911 operator I would've told them to go to another hospital. As big as LA is, there is definitely more than one hospital to go to and one that wouldn't be so negligent or understaffed.

Stuff like this happens every day, but this time someone died from it.

My mother was taken to the emergency room (Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown Ky)with sever abdominal pain and they told her she was constipated and gave her laxatives and pain meds. (We waited in the er for 4 hours before they even took any info!)We ended up taking her to a hospital in a larger city about 1 hour away (Baptist East in Louisville Ky), where they rushed her in immediately, did x-rays, and discovered she had Gaul stones getting ready to rupture. She was rushed into surgery and they removed her gob-latter. Go figure, she would have died without that surgery but the other hospital said she was constipated.

It makes you wonder where and how some docs get their degrees and if they really do care about a persons well being. People have to be careful where they go for treatment.

she was a transient with a drug problem therefore "no use to society" just something to step over or around. I hope there is enough lawsuits to set up all family members for life.

i heard about this and i hope that they are sued for not taking care of the woman who came there for help. Hospitals are supposed to help those who are seriously injured first.
i feel for the family.
