Hi. I will be taking classes and will have to pay to park in a parking garage. Can anyone tell me if the money I spend parking (for educational purposes) can be used for a tax deduction... I have a feeling it's really going to add up over the year!

Travel expenses (including parking) for education are only deductable if the education is related your current job. The best example of this is of a school teacher getting a master degree for promotion or a raise.

Most cases they are not deductable.

Nope. Not unless you are already working and the classes are to continue and improve your current job skills. Then you might get a miscellaneous deduction as part of the costs of continuing education, subject to limitations related to income.

No, parking fees aren't deductible. You might be eligible to get an education credit, though, for your tuition and fees.
