No, I'm not a teenager. I'm 26.

No, this site isn't the ONLY reason I "converted". Just seeing all these questions and answers led me to do more research on the subject in general.

To those that ask why, just look at my other responses/questions. It should be obvious.

Congratulations for using your mind and thinking rationally about these issues. You have made a truly adult choice by choosing intelligence, reason, and science over irrational belief, archaic dogma, and primitive superstition.

If I knew ya, I'd buy ya an assortment of pepperidge farms cookies and a large coffee. In lieu of that, feel free to treat yourself with all the money you save by not tithing to some oppressive religious institution.

Atheism like religion is to definitive and that's what religion brings out of people in their differences. It seems all final and concrete.

Agnoticism is very "eh". It has a very "who cares" attitude which I like. I don't spend my time even thinking about whether or not mysitical man made beings exist in the sky. Because, I don't care enough about it to even attempt.

And, for that you get Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies - frozen of course.

I recently converted from agnosticism to atheism as well. I largely have this site to thank, too. It's not the only reason for me either but it defintiely helped me discover my beliefs over the last year or so.

"Converting" from not being sure whether there is a "God" to being certain there isn't a "God" is not a 'conversion' per se. It's not like converting to Judaism from Catholicism.

Are you still a teenager?

I mean, people don't run around like "I converted to Atheism" - it's just not the same thing.

You can go to the Unitarian Universalist Church if you want, they accept Atheists. They accept eveyone- Gay, straight, atheist, agnostic, christian, jew, muslim. The people there just don't know, and don't act as if they do know, because NO ONE DOES. Atheists, in my opinion, are just like Religious leaders in their vehemence about NO god.

How can you 'know' anything? Then you are the same as a christian who says that they 'know' there is a god. It's just preposterous, because you have NO clue what the f brought you here at all. Yep, science is definitely involved in our existence. As is evolution, obviously. But to 'know' that we arrived here from a cosmic blast or something is silly. Where did the blast come from? Where did the universe come from? What is the beginning? You or anyone else does NOT KNOW. So please. Stop trying to be the opposite of christian when you are just being a parallel christian. No props to you dear. Make up your own mind to keep an open mind. I mean, trust me, theres no jesus waiting to save anyone's ***, but you can't know everything. You just can't.

I mean, its just that agnosticism is just an 'i don't know wtf i believe in' sort of thing. Its not like you can convert 'from' it.

Not that I'm christian, because i am the opposite of christian. I am actually a nice person, lol. Personally christians rub me the wrong way. I belong to the Unitarian Universalist Church - we just accept everyone.

You can have a cookie, but it might be the body of christ cookie, and a glass of blood to go with it. Twisted, huh. And they call everyone else twisted, lol.

Anyway, whatev, and best of luck to you.

Congratulations! I'm giving you a star for evolved thinking. I converted many years ago and never got cookies! I am a much more realistic and nicer person since.

We atheists serve only the best in double fudge cookies at our meetings.

And don't feel at all weird about having found inspiratin here. As much as there is garbage that gets posted here, there are plenty of genuinely smart people who know their stuff, and there are also plenty of links to other resources. Information is information regardless of the medium in which it is presented.

I, for one, first found inspiration that led me to a refutation of Cartesian dualism on a message board. That led me to plenty of interesting reading.

The reason man invented God is that man wanted to live for ever. Our immortality is achieved through the works we do or the children we have. The link below is all about immortality.
