I received an e-mail this morning from my sister, concerning a young child who is missing. I was asked to forward this message to friends or anyone I could think of. Due to my limited amount of contacts, I feel my contacts would not be sufficient. If we have spam and all other kinds of unsolicited mail why can't we have Amber alerts for children that are missing?

First off, make sure that this child is actually missing by googling in the name. I have gotten several different missing children alerts through e-mail that were false. I've even received one that was intended as a joke by the "missing" girl to her friends.

If the e-mail is actually correct then just send it to all your contacts. Maybe one of them will be willing to pass it on. That person may have a bigger network than you, which will help.

The police will distribute any authentic Amber alerts. This keeps the system clean of false claims and will not just become another notice of warning, but actually get people to pay attention. We don't want everyone to have access to create Amber alerts, that would cause the real ones to have to be sifted through all the false ones first. If this is real contact your police dept. Good Luck.

Amber Alerts are regulated by the judicial authority, civilians are not authorized to activate them.

In fact, there are specific regulations for what constitutes an Amber Alert. A missing child - if that is the only known fact about the case - is NOT something that will trigger the judicial authority to release an Amber Alert.

I believe it is used when a child is ABDUCTED by a person.

If a child is truly missing then the police are involved. If the police are involved, then they will and do issue an amber alert.

Good point.

Maybe someone needs to set up some kind of alert system through email.

Hello, Congress!

Why not get off yer azzes and actually DO something that benefits Americans instead of conducting illegal and unjust wars with a country that never attacked us?

i imagine that myspace is doin each and every thing conceivable short of monitoring human beings all the way down to their actual properties and checking their identity. the whole thing about myspace is that it would want to be as look after, or as loose, as you want it to be. in case you want, no one's preventing you from letting all and multiple see your own thoughts. Or, you could lock your profile so as that in ordinary words your persons can see it and in ordinary words those who fairly comprehend you could develop into your persons. Gotta love Tom!
