For the record...I'm not Christian moderate or otherwise. I just know there are perfectly resonable and nice Christian out there and I wondered if they were as frusterated as we were.

You must be borderline liberal instead of moderate dear. Why would you want to smack those who "give your faith a bad name?"

If you are a Christian, then you should know that Satan is doing his best to decieve others. This "giving our faith a bad name" as you call it, is the devil at work.

Instead of being angry with them, you should pray for them. The reason??? They are lost, and when they die, they will not reside in heaven with you and me, but will spend an eternity in hell. Instead of expressing your anger, you should pray for them to be saved.

Besides, what did Jesus say? He said turn the other cheek, and pray for those that spitefully use you. Prayer is the answer dear. And by the way, dont pray to God to strike them dead. Thats not a prayer God will answer. Remember, God loves the sinner, not the sin.

God Bless You dear.

Absolutely!

Unfortunately they (moderate christians) are really bad about judging other people and their actions.

I am a christian, I am not perfect, and I never claim to be. If you are wanting to live a life like Christ, which is what all Christians should do, you should not be judgemental, act like you are perfect, and say that you are. Saying that you would only associate yourself with others who are Christians is not living a life like Christ. Christ hung out with what was considered the scum of the earth in his days (prostitutes, tax collectors, ect.) and those were the people who were some of his closest friends (i.e. Mary Magedaline) and he never judged them, only loved them.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and to claim that others are not as good as you because you are a Christian and they are not, is hypricritical.

At last. I just knew there were reasonable Christians out there. I'd leave out the corporal punishment though, but I share your sentiment.

Please take a stand when the obnoxious ones are saying absurd things about atheists and other people. Maybe someone will listen more to another Christian.

Religious zealots wouldn't exist, except for the support of moderate religious people. Sam Harris' book, "The End of Faith" gives a good discussion of this topic.

This is another reason that religions are harmful to society.

Well, I can't say I want to smack them, but, yes, it is frustrating. Extremists in any religion give a bad name to those who are more moderate and open-minded.

Of course some days we all want to slap someone. The feelings of frustration are normal. It is what we do with those feelings that really count. So instead of slapping them, I pray for them, the simply do not know any better. How sad I end up feeling for those who are lost.... And clue less. God bless****

Absolutely. but what can you do? The tide of fundamentalism is in full swing. Liberalism in religion has been put on the back-burner. When will we have another Renaissance? We need one now.

Not really, everyone has their own rate of spiritual growth. Best you can do is be an example to those, and you know what it is like to have a bad day too, so I would say it's all relative to we all fall short.

Wishing to smack someone is moderate?

Just so you are aware, the definition of moderate is: kept or keeping within reasonable or proper limits. Doesn't sound at all like what you are suggesting.

They do more than give Christians a bad name. They work to actively spread their fundamentalism to as many people as possible.

That's when they start threatening those of us who are *not* Christians.
