I am 22 years old and my youngest brother is like 38. I just find it odd. I have always been the black sheep. I am wondering how do I find out if I'm adopted? I mean they are still gonna be my parents regardless. I am just curious. I was online looking up my family tree and my brothers came up an ansestery.com but there was no record of me ever being born. I have seen my birth certificate but I recently found out that your original birth certificate can be hidden to where the adopted child will see a birth certificate with the adopted parents as the birth parents. I am just wondering about this. I live in NC. Thanks for any answers.

Ask your parents.

I agree ask your parents.

They may have been trying for another baby for quite a while and it just never happened then one day surprise! (my kids are 6 years apart)

Or there could have been several miscarriages between your brothers birth and yours.

Or was your dad away in the military? If the brother is 38 that would have him being born in 1969 wasn't Vietnam going on until around some time in the mid 70's.

Also you are totally different from him because you were raised at a different stage of the parents lives, so you could have been treated in a different manner (spoiled more or etc.)
Not to mention the Cultural differences of raising one child in the early 70's and another in the late 80's & 90's.

Also don't forget that at the time the info was given to someone who was doing research you might not have been born.
I updated my charts last weekend to include my nephew who was born in 2001 & my daughter born in 2006.

One way that might help is through blood type. A baby will ALWAYS have either his mother's or father's blood type. If you match one of your parents that doesn't confirm they are your birth-parent but if you do not match one of them you are definitely adopted. As far as the older brother being registered but not you... Sad to day the first child's baby book is all filled out, has three times more photo's taken so it's not inconceivable that Mom or Dad registered him but forgot about you.

You could also check out relatives family event pictures, there might be pictures of Mom pregnant with you.

Probably the best thing to do is ask them. They might tell you.

here are your options...

1. Ask Your Parents

2. Ask Your Older Brother (He definitely Knows)

3. Take A DNA Test Without Your Parents Knowing

ask your parents?

maybe you were just anm accident. Or the milkman stayed a bit longer...

your folks will know eh.

Seems from what you say you could be adopted, or some other story. Have you thought maybe you could be your brothers son? i know this might sound ridiculous, but if your brother had a kid young (like 16) and he or the mother couldnt look after it then the 'grandparents' -your 'parents' would look after the kid like a son. saves shame on the family.

I knew a guy who was tricked into believing his real mother was his sister for the same reason cos she had him so young.

The most popular answer: Ask your parents....but it sounds like you don't trust the answer to that. Check with family friends or a confidant. Someone has to know. I know someone this happened to...the mother was trying to protect them from their father. If that doesn't work contact the records dept of the city you were born... legally you have the right to know. I hope you get the answers you are looking for.

Yeah, ask your parents. If you were adopted, then it's time you should know. I mean, you are 22 years old.

Ask your parents.
Your old enough for them to be honest with you.

There are sometimes a black sheep in every family.

I swear my brother is the milkman's son.

He is nothing like me.

Try talking to your parents first. You could also talk to your brothers, they might tell you.
