I'll be there late June / early July for my first visit to Oz. Hoping to see some hot weather in Palm Cove!

I can just about guarantee you (99.9% sure) the weather will be glorious.
Have a fantastic holiday.
Just spare a thought for the rest of us, who live further south and will be in the cold regions of Australia.

P.S. Emilie is incorrect Palm Cove and the Great Barrier Reef are not on the Gold Coast. They are in North Queensland. The Gold Coast is in the far south of Queensland. It's lovely there too, but not quite so warm in winter.

It is great - I live 5 mins away from Palm Cove. You'll love it!
at the moment the temp has dropped a little at night, so instead of shorts and singlet you may want to trade up to a t-shirt at night or a thin long sleeve sweater.
Generally rains for 30mins - very light showers early in the morning between 4-6am. But that's the tropics for you.
During the day - nice and sunny, and not humid at the mo.
enjoy your time in Cairns. I do everyday !

Wow Lucky you!!
I went to Cairns and visited Palm Cove in September last year and it was great. It was their spring over there and on some of the days there was a temperature of 30 degress celcius!
Have a great time and also on the great barrier reef!

I visited palm Cove in August 2005 and it is a beautiful little place. Lovely sandy beach and promenade. We stayed at the Novotel which was lovely. Did a day trip to the reef too. weather then was great. Temps then were about 24-26
I would also suggest you do a day trip to cape tribulation too.

The seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere. I do not know where Palm Cove is, but if it is above Bundaberg, you need to go in Winter anyhow, on account of jellyfish, unless you confine yourself to fenced off areas in the sea or go to places with a guide at all times. Weather is warm by US and European standards, even in Winter.

We've just come back from Cairns and though its out of season up that neck of the woods right now the weather is still very hot, we had fantastic weather and got a good tan, we had temperatures of between 26 and 31 though the Aussies up there think that's cold, nah its hot for us, have a great time and enjoy yourself too.
