There is no real right or wrong way - it just depends what you feel comfortable doing. Usually the band is worn first, to be the closest to your heart, then the engagement ring after.

You are right - the wedding band goes on first, with the engagement ring on overtop, to protect it.
For the wedding ceremony, the hand you will be accepting the wedding band on should be bare - either don't wear the engagement ring, or move it to the other hand. Then later, you can put the engagement ring on overtop of the wedding band.
Sure don't know where people ever got the idea to wear them the 'wrong' way around - I guess maybe they figure it's since they got the engagement ring first...

The wedding band goes on first as that is not coming off. Your engagement ring however may be taken off for several reasons as the stones & setting are delicate.
Alot fo people opt for a group setting in whihc the engagement & wedding band are connected or meant to wear together and that is wonderful, but in all honesty, your never supposed to remove your wedding band.

Your wedding band goes on first, then your engagement
ring, I heard that's because the wedding band is closest
to your heart. The thing is, it should be the opposite, because you got the engagement ring first, so the it should
stay "in it's place", and then the wedding band goes on
after it, but for some reason that's not the way it is.
I've seen it done either way. Mine just looks better to me
with my wedding band on first, then my engagement ring.

this started back with the romans the wedding band goes on first and then the engagement ring. because they believed that there is a vein in the ring finger that leads right to your heart so they put the wedding band on that finger cause it was closest to the heart. So when we added the engagment ring it was worn on that finger till the marrage and then the wedding band goes first then the engaement ring so that the marrage is closest to he heart.
so the answer to your question is the wedding band goes on first and then the engagment after that.

It is normal for the wedding ring to go on first, then the engagement ring. Although a couple of Answerers have given some splendid 'emotional' reasons for this sequence, the truth is that it is for practical reasons - it's easy to remove it before getting involved in some practical but rough work (e.g., certain gardening tasks). You remove your engagement ring with its often protuding and vulnerable stone, so that there is no possibility of it getting damaged in some way. The wedding ring/band is relatively smooth, flush with the finger and should not get damaged.
[A note for men who wear a wedding band - or ring of any sort. When I was in the air force, one of my colleagues jumped from the back of a truck and caught his wedding band on a piece of metal on the vehicle's tail board. His ring came off.... together with his finger!]

I have all sorts of rings. Some are cocktail rings, some are casual rings, some have multi stones and others are solitary. I have gemstones that are colored and also coral and turquoise jewelry. I wear whatever I want whenever I want. I even have a couple of pinky rings that I wear n my left hand, too. Jewelry is a personal choice and comes in so many styles. If you just buy what you love, you will be happy to wear it any time. Heck, I have worn pearls with jeans. Anything goes. I think having jewelry sit in the jewelry box is foolish. What is the point in having it and saving it? I say wear it and wear it often so you can enjoy it as much as possible.

Your wedding band should be closest to your heart and then your engagement ring. I asked the same question about a month ago when I got my ring at a jewelry store.
