God's only necessary if your gaps have widened so much that they're beginning to hurt your head and it's not recommended that you use God under any but the most severe of circumstances. Alternatively, you could just try THINKING, as I do. Works a charm, and there's no inevitable crusading or inquisition as a result of it. Why don't you people read your bible, he wrote for a reason,because he knew there would be dumb questions like this, When Moses had seen god's shadow, he came down from Horeb with white hair and bronze coloured skin. it was RADIATION. So common sense has to tell you that God is Radiation or something similar, with a very Superior brain. We don't have any other option but to worship him, he made us, the earth, the universe, he can raise the dead, give us our food, keeps the sun going so we can continue to live, our oxygen to breath, the animals for our pleasure, he can wipe us out with one breath and you say why do we worship him, without him you wouldn't even be here. he has also promised to put an end to this wicked system. As Bible says: God is Love. I think that the biggest part of people who worships God, including me, does it because of the great love that He has shown to us. He loves us no matter of what we do and always gives us a chance to return. He always forgives. God has given me everything that I have. So the best way to say thanks for me is worshiping.
