I'd like to take some alcohol to America for a friend of mine. I'm okay to do this if I keep it in my suitcase?

It possibly depends on where you're coming from, what method of travel you're taking, how old you are and what citizenship you have.

For example: Flying from Paris to the US (Pre-new anti-terrorist regulations)

An underage (in the US) US citizen traveler can bring the equivalent of one bottle of wine, if it is gift-wrapped and stored in their carry-on.

An of-age US citizen traveler may bring the equivalent of two bottles of wine in their carry-on.

This was the case as of two years ago when my family and I traveled this way.

I'm sure the regulations have changed now, or would be different from different countries or via other travel methods (driving from Mexico or Canada to the US surely has different rules).

Check with a local travel-agent, they should know the regulations. Or your airline (if flying). Or the customs website may be a good place to check it out!

Happy travels!

I would say no. Isn't it illegal to buy cigarettes in one state and travel across the state line of another state in the USA?? So alcohol has to be even worse especially if you are transporting it from country to country. Maybe it all depends on how many bottles you will be bringing in your suitcase. Be careful! Check it out before doing

If you buy your booze in duty free you can bring 2 bottles with you into the states. for that matter you can bring 2 bottles with you anyway. What kind of alcohol is it? You can buy just about anything made on earth in the states. Is it worth the hassle?
