My cat has always had the tendancy to climb things, hang out on the fridge or even on the kitchen cabinets. But for some reason now, its like he wants to go higher. While on our cabinets he'll want to reach for the ceiling. He does this now on our entertainment center aswell. I thought maybe there was a web or bug or fly or something, but nothing. Hes reaching for ceiling now, whats up with him. Scared he'll fall...

not a problem. you have a cat that wants to be high and mighty. :) ok lame joke but really your cat just likes to have high views. your cat may also see someone it doesnt like and tries to get high enough to watch that person so it can escape. unless he is destroying something there isnt anything to worry about. cats always land on their feet. plus cats have amazing balance. let it climb. hope that helps

The only way to stop him, is to block the front where he can't jump up there. My cats climb to the ceiling all of the time on things they shouldn't be on. I used some cardboard and covered it with contact paper and mounted it around the areas that I did not want the cats to go. They have no excuse to go there. They have cat trees throughout the house and they have a shelf that my husband built for them that is 12 inches from the ceiling. The shelf goes all the way around their room and they use it as a racetrack, but they still will get up on the stereo speakers and try to knock them over. We Had to mount them securely and block the path.

Cats climb and they land on all 4 legs. My kitten (as she is growing) is clumsy. She tries to jump from our bed to the window and falls all of the time b/c she doesn't use enough effort to adjust to her body weight & size and we have hardwood floors. It used to scare me but now we just snicker b/c it is so cute. The higher an area and the more closed in, the better. I guess it makes them feel safe. Cats are funny. I had a cat before I got married and she used to get real high on top of a desk I had custom built with a tall back to it and sleep. It was easy to get up there but hard to get down b/c I had pencils, papers and other clutter on my desk and she was scared. So I'd have to stand on my desk b/c she was too high to reach (9' ceilings) and pick her 12lb tail up and get her down. She would meow and pace until I'd pick her up when she was ready to come down. The next time your cat is up there take a picture or two. My cats thing is when she is in the window (on my side of the bed) if I have to get up and she wakes up she'll slap at me when I go by. good luck!

Don't worry about it. Some cats just really adore heights. Our cat's favorite place to sleep is on top of the refrigerator.. Try getting him a big cat climbing house whre he can perch on the top and feel king of his abode! Don't worry about him falling. Cats are (for the most part) very graceful and the risk of them falling is low. If they do fall, even, they DO land on their feet and will be uninjured.

well if you cant keep him from getting on the cabinets then what ya need to do is watch him very closely and get him something thats made for cats so they can climb he probably just likes heights he'll land on his paws if he does fall for the most part their very graceful and dont worry itll just make it worse

Cat have extremely good eye site and can see things we don't. Your cat is probably playing with a moth or some kind of insect. Perhaps a spider. Get some binoculars and see if you can see what he is after. I did that with my cat and saw a hugh ugly spider on the wall. It was actually a little bitty thing, but have you ever looked at a spider with binoculars? OMG they are ugly and scary looking!
Anyway the cat is after something, you just can't see it.
