Jesus makes the injunction that only those who are as humble as little children - who know that they know nothing - shall find and enter the Kingdom. Because only then are we truly able to learn and grow:
Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and [then] become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.
18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
Thomas 8:1 Jesus said: From Adam until John the Baptist there is among those who are born of women none higher than John the Baptist, so that his eyes will not be broken.
8:2 But I have said that whoever among you becomes as a child shall know the Kingdom, and he shall become higher than John.

I believe this to be true. Yes it does... The thing with "ego" or pride in that your always right or need to be right and theirs no changing you and your points of view creates a 'stumbling block'. For Who? For you and others around you......most just walk away because the attempt to reason with you explaining beliefs etc..was yet again impossible because of either being too critical, judgemental or prideful....So whats needed...Humility, being humble....Being humble doesn't mean weakness. It's actually a strength even a virtue.>>Psalms 138:6;Proverbs29:30, Read Matt 23:12 (even the latter 23:12-39 learn about JesusChrist and his view of the religious clerics in his day ...where here He is making an observation speaking to a crowd and giving warning to the scribes and Pharisees of his day while on earth- for being hypocrites) Increasing in knowledge spiritually or biblically is always commendable because your studying and intrested in God's thoughts, seeking His guidance. Your trying to form a personal relationship with him. Your seeking and thirsting for His truths. The best source is His inspired, profetic word the Bible. It's actually an accurate knowlege that leads to everlasting life here on a paradise earth ...read John 17:3 ...1Timothy 2:4... 2 Timothy 3:16,17 >>>.Amos8:11...Amos 55:13 (a spiritual feasting, feeding on Gods utterances and His guidance)

Almost always.
The problem is that the Ego is a Belief system, and it expresses what we Believe about Ourself, God and Life in General. Having "Faith" in our Beliefs simply means we accept them as Truth without actually Knowing or caring if they are Truth or not, and, as you said, we will not consider other alternatives or possibilities. Clinging to Beliefs is not a path of Growth.
The Spirit is our True Self; Spirituality is learning to Know our True Self. The Path of Self-Knowledge will always guide us within; that's the only place you can gain Knowledge about YOUR True Self.

You can't make the "ego" the scapegoat. There is no duplicity here...the "ego" is just a name, it does not really exist. It has no power. It is just your mind.
We think wrongly...it is ignorance that prevents us from awakening (advancing spiritually).

But it's the ego that does all the thinking, so you can't grow spiritually and grow in your thinking simultaneously.

I love to listen to others and their opinions sometimes help me see things clearer. However, the only thing I am absolutely firm on is my belief in Jesus and how to get into heaven. That is unshakable. But, as for answers to a lot of questions and problems, sharing and listening can be awesome. Thanks and have a great day.
