Don't worry, I'm sure Vienna will follow the PR path of Vista. Microsoft will talk about all the features and as it gets closer to release time, they'll start removing those features from the product. Remember when Microsoft yanked these features from Vista?

- WinFS: The next generation file system.
- Next Generation Secure Computing Base: Also known as Palladium and meant to lock out some kinds of malicious code and protect your personal data.
- Monad: A UNIX like shell for scripting.
- UEFI: A replacement for BIOS. NOTE that Intel Mac uses this.
- SecureID Support: Two factor authentication (RSA)
- PC to PC Sync: Synchronized files/folders between systems, a great feature for mobile users.

I'd wait until much closer to really rely on any of the information coming out of Microsoft.

With Vista just hitting shelves, Microsoft is already looking ahead to their next OS codenamed "Vienna", that is slated for a 2009 release. This from development VP Ben Fathi:

We're going to look at a fundamental piece of enabling technology. Maybe its hypervisors, I don't know what it is...Maybe it's a new user interface paradigm for consumers...It's too early for me to talk about it...But over the next few months I think you're going to start hearing more and more.

apparently there is no added news this this operating system, there probably wont be for some time, i would give it until 2008 when they release news about it. I hope they take the unix approach this time when crating the kernel and shell, so that its more secure.
