I'm a Filipino and we always eat rice, three times a day. Rice is our staple food and is very abundant in our country. Usually it is white rice, perhaps easy to grow and cheaper than brown and red rice.

Are Japanese people have abundance in brown or red rice? Isn't that healthy living people prefer brown rice to white rice? How is that? If white rice is part of our daily living, how can we get most of the nutrients offered by brown rice if it isn't abundant in Asia- instead it is white rice. It is like I am talking here about low GI foods.

However, white rice is still the choice of most Asian people. But I am wondering about the fact that since white rice is refined and much processing is done, it is still cheaper. But brown rice takes less process but expensive. Why is it like that?

I'd like to hear a comment from a Japanese like you.

Usually two or three a times a week.
I make a lot of casseroles that have rice and we eat rice w/ pinto beans, beef tips, stroganoff and several other thing that I can't think of right now.

We like white and wheat rice and I use both, depending on what I am making

I am crazy about brown rice! I eat it at least twice per week.

Please know that I am in awe of the basic Japanese diet. It seems that Japanese people live much longer and much healthier lives than Americans. We need to take some notes!

::EDIT:: Oh! Forgot to add - I live in the US.

I'd say about 2-3 times a week. Either curried, plain basmati, or in some Cajun dish. (US)

More than that if there's actually leftovers.

I am part of the human race, more specifically of Irish, Polish, and Italian decent. I live in the States. I typically eat rice four to seven days a week, with up to two meals of the day. I normally eat brown rice but have been expanding my varieties lately and got Basmati rice last week. Going to try a different kind this coming week.
