I heard it's like the trashcan of your body. Is that true?

It's speculated that the appendix once had a function, but that we evolved out of the need for one. Therefore, currently in the human body the appendix has no function and can be removed with no consequences

I suppose that's as accurate a description as anything.

The appendix is really a sort of vestigial organ that doesn't do anything now- but eons ago it used to have a function.

Appendix has no job in your body. Its a useless organ but scientists are saying that there is a use, but they havent discovered it yet....

Nobody really knows. The only thing we do know is that it can become inflamed (appendicitis) and have to be removed, with no negative consequences. So, it seems to just be something weird and extra *shrug*.

it is one of those extra parts God didn't know what to do with so he threw them in for decorations LOL!
