In your question you have answered your own.
Jr joining Hendricks Racing. Did he turn his back on his fans and his Father. He left his Fathers company and Didn't go with his Father's old team RCR.
That remark is just what JR needs to get away from..................being in the shadow of Dale Sr. I was a Sr. fan too but enough of expecting Jr. to be the spitting image of his Dad.

We will see now just how good he is. He will have the best equipment now and if he can really get the job done only time will tell.
People have always said Gordon only wins because he has the best equipment. Maybe Jr. can win more now.
I was a Earnhardt fan (#3) for years. But later became a Gordon fan when he came on the seen. Jr. was not all that popular when his Dad was alive but he inherited a lot of fans after his Father death because of loyalty to the #3.
Gordon has been hated because he beat everybody and he was not from the south and he wasn't very manly like Earnhardt.
I believe most of the haters are Earnhardt fans I think it's like a confederate solider joining the union army because he wanted to be on the winning team.
It is the best thing for Jr. I believe any driver would have done the same thing. Hendricks has won the most championships the last 15 years. Now Jr. will have a chance. We can all say now GO #5 (#8)lol

This is a good move for Jr. I must admit, I was suprised, though.
It's time for Jr to get out from under his fathers shadow and become his own man, going to RCR and driving his daddies car won't help him with that - especially now that DEI and RCR are working together.
The die hard Earnhardt fans will call him traitor, the true Dale Jr fans will follow him and he'll get new fans.
People need to remember that Gordon and Dale Sr. were friends and business partners, Dale worked with Gordon to make him a decent driver. They need to remember that Dale Sr helped get Hendricks into NASCAR racing. These families are intertwined.
Though you are disappointed, you have a choice, you are either a fan of Dale Jr or you are not a fan. I am a fan.

Yeah I was hoping he would join RCR too. You really can't blame him though for going to Hendrick they are hot right now and probably will win the championship. I know Jr loves the sport of Nascar and wants to be a champion. He has a good chance now that he will be with Hendrick and company. I wish him all the luck and hope everything turns out the way he wants.

I really don't care & tired of all the media attention. He will bring $$$ to Hendricks but not a guaranteed championship. Jr fans have always said if he went to a better team he would win more races & a championship. He has to prove himself & he hasn't done that yet. I respect him & I do like him, not his father though. He may or not be a winner at Hendricks, only time will tell. Some fans will say he sold out & thought, if you can't beat 'em(Hendricks) join 'em. I do wish him well because he is certainly a nice guy.

Jr is doing what is best for Jr. right now. He didn't leave his dads company he still has ownership in it. He still backs it and will still be involved. Hes just racing for someone else.. BIG DEAL.....his dad did...So, what if its Hendricks. No he wouldn't have been the majorities choice but, we're not making that decision.. And I back Jr. just as I am sure his father would....
He and Gordo will always compete.. no matter if on the same team...its only going to make it more interesting...
true Jr. fans won't change the way they feel about Jr. (unless he becomes a butt buddy with Jiffy and Jimmie..) LOL
I just think everyone should face it, it is what it is... and Nascar is going to be even bigger next year.. If your not happy with it then find something else to do with your time. LET us true Nascar fans live and enjoy our racing...
YOU root for jiffy if thats your choice....
I am not going to change the way I feel about Jr.. no matter what you people say...
Have a nice day.....
GO JR GO...

He left his father's company because he wasn't getting the respect he deserved. His step-mother took over when Dale Sr. died, though he had intended for Jr to eventually take over. I think going with Hendrick was a wise decision. Hendrick Motorsports are on top of their game right now, they are consistant week after week. They're doing something right, and Jr. wants a piece of it. Understandable, since he hasn't been performing as well as he would like. Maybe he's trying to create his own legacy by leaving his father's teams behind. I think moving to Hendrick was a smart move though.

As a loyal Jr fan, I'm excited about his choice. He'll do very well with Hendrick. They're the strongest team right now, and will continue to be. It was a smart decision on both ends.
Now hopefully they can get all the little details worked out...

He left DEI because the team was not being run the way he wanted it run. I doubt his father would be upset, considering the things that went on. I mean, come on! Jr. leaves and Teresa announces an engine deal with Childress? Most deals in NASCAR take atleast 6 months to work out and I doubt Jr. was ever brought in on any of those conversations. That was just another example of how Teresa kept Jr. out of "her" company.
As for Childress, once that engine deal was signed I knew Jr. wouldn't go there. He'd still be attached to Teresa! And think about it...if you were in Jr.'s situation would you want to go and drive for your dad's old team? Talk about STRESS! And in the #3...I don't think so. Jr. is tring to be his own driver and get out from under the enormous shadow of his father. He even admits he's not as good as his dad...why would he drive the #3...let it lay with a great story and history behing it. Jr. doesn't want to tarnish his father's legacy.
And Hendrick...I think it's great. I hope he is able to become "one of the boys" and show us how great he is. Unlike the Jr Nation, Sr. did not HATE Gordon. Listen to Jr. They were friends of the track and Sr. had a lot of respect for Gordon, as we all should. He is a GREAT driver and will go down in history as one of the best.
You go, Jr. I wish you all the luck. Your daddy would be proud of the tough decisions you've made, and proud that you are going with a team that has the potential to help you shine.

I personally think HM, the best move in his career. Look at the stats, they speak for themselves. Whatever happened to loyality for all you FANS. If your a true fan, you dont just turn your back on someone because you dont like the other driver, and speaking of HM, they are all still racing eachother which means the bumpin and bangin is still gonna happen. It can still go alot of ways, jr may have a stellar year next year, or he can still possibly run the same as the last two years. But one thing is for certain, HE WILL HAVE MUCH BETTER and more up to date EQUIPMENT....
I dunno which is worse, media or the fans. You both create these factions and hate towards driver vs driver and as soon as your lil jr leaves daddies stable, throw em to the dogs right. Dont blame Dale, thank his wicked stepmother turned mommy dearest.
I think it was a great move, I support jr no matter what and will continue, maybe he can get back on his game with more horsepower and better cars for a championship
