Hi everyone, my neice will be 3 years old next month, and I need a cool gift idea. Would like to keep it at $50.00 or less. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

My daughter turned 3 in February. She loves dress up. Target has great dress up stuff - dresses, shoes, crown, jewelry. Or Lillian Vernon has dress up trunks ready for you to buy. Check out their catalog or online.

She's also starting to love Barbie. She's loves the dancing princesses. You could get her Barbie twelve dancing princesses DVD and a doll.

Toys R Us has a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for $40 bucks if she likes Mickey Mouse. My daughter loves this.

Disney.com has some stuff on sale. Pajamas and personalized towels. My daughter thinks it's great that her towels have her name on them.

Play sets are wonderful right now.

And I'm always in favor of books. Just make them more fun by pairing them with a matching toy. For example, something Dora (which 3 year olds LOVE- the Dora princess is especially cool) and a Dora book. Or get "The monster at the end of this Book" with a stuffed Grover or "Another monster at he end of this Book" with a stuff Elmo.

Good luck!

Parents will tell you they always have too many outfits and toys, but never enough books.

Half-price book stores, garage sales, library used book drives are your best bets to get a LOT for under $50.

3 yo's are starting to be pretty opinionated, so a gift certificate to a book store might be even better, but the full prices are steep thanks to publishers.

In addition to whatever you buy her, you will be her favorite Aunt if you encourage reading by taking her to the library! Since those books cost nothing, and go back when she's sick of them, there's less expense/clutter, and you can even spring for some nuggets and fries while you're out!

Check with your local branch - they might even let her have her own card, with you or her parent co-signing.

All little girls seem to love the Disney princesses. Look at the Disney website and they sell the Disney princess costume dresses. Check out www.disneyshopping.com

A dollhouse, my little ponies, dress-up stuff, play makeup, barbies, purses (little girls love to imitate their mommies). Or you could get Chutes and Ladders or some kind of learning game that would help her with counting, colors and still be fun to play!
