You see, some of your Catholic respondents say they do worship Mary.
Apart from that problem, the Luke you refer to is the words of one living woman to another living woman, Mary, when she was pregnant with Jesus. It says that she is blessed among women. which is absolutely true. Nothing there indicates a prayer to a person who is dead.
The Bible repeatedly tells us that there is one mediator and that is Jesus. That's why so many object to the practice of prayer through Mary or anyone else.

Mary is dead. God forbids communication with the dead. The "hail Mary prayer" is not a quote from Luke of any other scripture, and can not be supported. You may ask me to pray for you-I am alive. Mary can not be the mother of God-think that through. If Mary was the mother of God, then she would have to be God also. Which would make her worthy of worship. This idea is paganistic in origin. Study church history from a non-catholic perspective. You will never see the truth about catholicism as long as you study what other catholics say-duh!
Jesus was fully human, yet fully God. Mary was just another human-she is not, was not, and never will be, anything else. To pray to her, or ask her to pray for you is a direct violation of scripture. Jesus died on the cross so you could directly access God-why would you pass up praying to God in order to communicate with Mary? Can you see something wrong here? Catholicism has placed an obstacle between you and God! Think about this. Don't get angry-think. Read the Bible- it is legal to do now for catholics. Don't pass it up-read it, understand it.

Because she is not a deity and cannot hear your prayer or intercede on your behalf. She was human and is long dead. Look in Luke or any of the gospels, Paul's writings, etc. and you will see that the ONLY person/deity to intercede before God on your behalf is Christ. Not Mary, not the priest, not me.
When He died, the temple veil was torn apart (in two). That symbolized that no longer would a "high priest" make intercession for the people. Just Christ. Why don't those in the high church get that?

I think the problem is there's no basis in scripture for praying to Mary.
1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
The Hail Mary is not a prayer in the Bible so why use it as such? Christ gave us the basic format for prayer and it wasn't to Mary. Why not just go right to Christ?

I grew up catholic and for me personally I pray to God and Jesus.There is a scripture that says there is one mediator between God and man the man Christ Jesus.I think God wants us to communicate directly to him,as he desires a real relationship with us personally.For me saints and Mary do not have the power that Jesus has.Protestants believe praying to anyone other then Jesus and God is idolatry.But I believe God understands peoples hearts better then protestants,he understands how someone has been taught,and they are merely being faithful to the teachings.He is a merciful living God to us and loves us.He wants to commune with us personally,and deeply.For me 3rd party relationships are not very fulfilling,why not go to God baring your soul directly to him.So that's what I have chosen,I will not dictate what you should do,and hope you understand better the mind set of non catholics.Be loved and blessed

Mary can't pray for anyone, she is dead, or else she is the oldest person on earth. I hope the people in your church and your minister is not dead, of course they could be Spiritually, is that what you are saying. By the way Mary is not the Mother of God, she was the earthly Mother of Jesus.

What I myself don't understand is that you don't know that you don't need Mary to pray for you! You can ask God himself. You can have a personal relationship with the Heavenly Father.Just ask him yourself in your own words. But I will not try to convert you.

Why is it so difficult for you to understand that Mary is in the grave? How can you possibly ask her to pray for you, when she is dead? Ridiculous! She can neither hear nor answer your prayer. Neither is there any scripture to support such a prayer. Jesus is our intercessor, not this dead woman.

As a lapsarian Catholic, I ought to assert you do a bad activity of featuring Catholic doctrine. All "saints" are seen by the Church to be persevering with contributors of the Church and as a result as able to praying on behalf of others as residing contributors of the Church. that's what "communion of saints" ability, Christians residing AND ineffective. Catholics honor the saints (dulia), a prepare grown out of the veneration of departed martyrs interior the early Church. Mary is given extra effective veneration (hyperdulia) using fact of her intimate connection to Christ. None of them are "worshipped" (latria) decrease than any definition. people who think of they are "worshipping" Mary are actually not following Church coaching. no person yet God has any supernatural skill. Saints can in straightforward terms pray alongside with the Church to God. If something, you have created extra confusion.
