Absolutely!!! I read what others wrote about not joining because you should be taking care of your kids, but to that I say.....They don't know your situation and joining may give you the opportunity to take care them better. The military offers its members great benefits and you should do what is best for you and your family.
One thing I would suggest is to talk to your children at length to make sure that they support your decision to join before you join. Doing this would avoid possible resentment by them in the future. Good luck to you!!

OK, everyone is answering your question wrong: First you cannot enlist in any service if your a single parent. For your first enlistment you have to give custody to someone, and the regulations state that you can not do this for the sole extent to join the military. After your first enlistment your more than welcome to bring the kids along. Just to be sure I would contact an AirForce Recruiter but I am 100% positive on this.

I know when I enlist 2 1/2 years ago, one of the first questions they asked was if I had kids and if yes then if I was a single mom. I couldn't have enlisted active duty if I had a kid and was a single parent, I could have only gone guard or reserves. You're best bet is to call your local recruiter and ask him/her though.

Not sure about the Air Force, but i know a few single moms and dual military families in the Navy. Always a good second choice

Yes you can. But it is not easy being a single parent in the military. I do not recommend it.

in the RESERVES only. being a SP would require a waiver, even with the FCP, and the AF is not granting many waivers at all.

You can, but you shouldn't, you should care for your child! Thank you for considering military service, but your child needs you more.
