About 4-5 years ago, I tried Paxil for panic and depression. I had terrible side effects and a hard time getting off of it. Since then I've been spooked by anti-anxiety and anti-depressants. I need something though.

Paxil contributed to my psychotic episode that put me in the hospital for two weeks. I now am on Wellbutrin 300 and it is good for me. But nothing is 100% yet, I still have my bad days. I was on Lexapro with it also for a while. Prozac seems to be a good one too. And yes, you probably need tomget some therapy.

More information is really needed to know so that I can tell you the exact type of medication you should try. Paxil is used for anxiety and depression YES, but it is usually the first thing doctors prescribe. The reason for this is they only hear what you want to tell them on the first visit. I know, there are doctors out there that just go ahead and keep you on it even though it isn't working and those doctors need to go back to school!!! The other famous medications doctors prescribe are Lexapro, Depakote, and Trazadone. Out of the medications the only one that really helped was Trazadone. The only thing though is with Trazadone I also have to take Seroquel. What the 2 medications help me with is sleep. Sleep helps take alot of anxiety away, because it helps you sleep. What causes pain when you are depressed is holding in what your pain. You have to let it out. You have to not allow it to take over anymore. After releasing the pain and depression you have to not allow it to ever come back. Let me know exactly what causes the depression and I may be able to tell you the exact medication to take. Every since I have seen a Psychiatrist and doctors for other reasons I have studied medication and what it can do for you. I have also studied why doctors prescribe certain ones first and second.

I have been on all the meds for depression. None really helped. Actually, some of the meds made it worse for me as it did for you. I was diagnosed with depression some years ago and I know how horrible of an illness it is. The pain is crippling at times and the best way I deal with it when it gets that bad is to go somewhere by myself and have alone time. I know a lot of people say being alone would make it worse, but for me it helps me feel better. There is no one answer to give because we all have different ways to make us feel better. Sometimes I like to put on a tv show to cheer me up. The main thing you need to know is that you are not alone in your feelings. So many people fight depression on a daily basis. If you feel you need a medicine I would try a natural herb from a health food store. I found it helps me more than those meds that cost more money than I have and do nothing for me! I wish you the best of luck and I hope you can find a solution. Take care of yourself!

There have been several new medications to treat depression and anxiety over the past 5 years. Please, see you doctor so you can end the suffering. You may have to try several medications before you find the right one for you.

While you may only be going through emotional pain right now soon it will become physical too. Many of us understand what you are going through although each situation is different. You need to get help before you become totally overwhelmed.
