Personally I believe Jesus to be a fictional character, or maybe, at best a nice guy and because the medium for getting a message out in those days was word of mouth, undoubtedly, as in Chinese whispers the stories have been distorted and exaggerated. However for the sake of your question if I imagine him to be real I think he would put his head in his hands and weep for all the damage and judgments that have been made in his name, for all the damage that fundamentalists have heaped upon his children, he would comfort all those disenfranchised and turn his back on the people who have taken his words and distorted them to cause misery to their fellow man or use them as weapons i.e. fundamental Christians, he'd be heartbroken for the sadness they had caused in his name. Good question

I agree that Christians today are way too caught up in appearances and propriety. They're so quick to point out the "sin" they see in each other. Instead of protesting in front of abortion clinics they should be volunteering at food drives. Yet they're so focused on being holy and being watchdogs that everyone else fit up to their standards.
Jesus hung out with the "sinners," not those who fit the perfect religious mold. He was quite revolutionary in his ways of thinking. So many Christians today hide from the world, flee from what they see as immorality that they wouldn't have any idea where to start showing love for people unlike them.
Another thing that is crazy is how fundamentalists get so confrontational on this site. Sure no one likes having their religion dissed but so many people respond with a juvenile answer such as "You are blinded by Satan!!!!!!!!!! You're so stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two."

in case you do not have faith, that may no longer that no longer elementary. heavily, we Christians are regrettably brainwashed from the get bypass. you're born, mothers and fathers take you to church, and before you may communicate, walk, and understand you have heard a hundred sermons approximately God and Jesus. Take a step decrease back and look at it from somebody else's eyes. there is not any evidence of God, from time to time the Bible tells memories that for the period of no way befell, many circumstances our fellow Christians are purely Christians whilst they experience it particularly is acceptable, and Christians have a foul rep with stuffing it down human beings's throats. you may no longer coach to those that there is a God and Jesus greater effective than a guy from scripture. The scripture replaced into written by capacity of guy interior the e book which you're able to desire to realize is a sprint a stretch. Your faith retains you believing and loving, however the individuals you're relating have no faith. and that i'm no longer able to blame them. human beings will ask God to grant them the numbers to win the lottery. Why? Do you have a job? Did you bypass to college? notwithstanding it particularly is which you would be able to no longer have sufficient funds why can no longer you have sufficient funds it? IS it when you consider which you made undesirable judgements in existence? possibly it particularly is ultimate in case you may no longer have sufficient funds it to coach others that the course you took replaced into no longer the dazzling course. My own ideals are that God would not intrude. I refuse to have faith he could enable conflict if he did. I additionally can no longer have faith he could enable 1 / 4 of a million human beings to be killed by capacity of a tsunami if he believed in scuffling with such issues. It couldnt' have been all those human beings's time to bypass. Heaven and Hell, i think of human beings have the incorrect concept. How am i able to take exhilaration in somebody's corporation devoid of physique? i'm no longer able to hug them, can no longer see them, hear them, and so on. So why do i prefer to bypass to Heaven? i think of it particularly is a mindset which you're in once you die. The delight of understanding which you lived a solid existence.

"he would dump his wrath on homosexuals or ... stand along side them and help fight for equality" - neither actually, He would show them with His love the error of their ways, individually.
"he would hold the hand of .. a woman who ... has to have an abortion or he would stand in front of a clinic picketing like an extremist group?" - neither actually. He would show her love and help her find an alternative to abortion, as her baby is precious to Him too.
"rather than be complaining about the consumption of alchohol, he would be sitting having a drink with a friend?" - He would have the one drink, and encourage others to be sober as well.
Yes, I agree that fundamentalists go way overboard, they are so passionate about their religion.

I think that Jesus would admit that homosexuality isn't a sin and that the people who say that need to be quiet or they'd go to hell with the other haters.Jesus would fight for equality. the bible was wrote by people and other people are selective about what to preach, they preach hatreds and ignorance

Actually Jesus did judge and condemn many:
Mat 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Mat 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 23:33 [Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Jhn 8:42Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
Jhn 8:43Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word.
Jhn 8:44Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Mat 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
Jesus didn't just preach goodness. You need to read all of scripture. Jesus condemns sin while still loving the sinner. The book of Revelation tells us what he's going to do when he comes back.
"Well if Jesus got all upset about Homosexuals and what not I would just point out that he died for that sin to be cleared so he has no reason to be pissed because said sin is already cleaned off the slate."
Yes, but one has to accept Christ for that forgiveness to be effective.

Hi Leah,
Your a little mixed up about that verse. The reason we are not to Judge,,is because it is God's job. I think God does not approve of Homo's,,,killing unborn babies (or anyone else),,or getting messed up with chemicals like alchohol and meth. Pot,,I d have to say,,,,he would classify as nutrition tho. ;).

The fundamentalists of today are the Pharisees of yesterday. They come to Christ with their voices but their hearts are far from Him.

He would forgive...but also at the same time confront what he considered to be wrong, whatever that may be....accountability....he did not judge but did confront...in the temple where the wrong was being done...he turned over tables and showed anger....
