Spot fat reduction is not possible (other than through liposuction - even then body fat tends to redistribute - so that's a waste of cash!). The only way you're going to control and reduce is through a properly balanced diet and exercise.
Avoid those miracle tummy trainers and ab-builder you see on TV - they tend to be quite popular, but when people find that they don't deliver - they're packed carefully and put in the back of a cupboard. They are also quit expensive.
The best thing you can do is to see how much weight you have to loose - this assumes you have some weight to lose (ain't necessarily so) and set a goal for achieving the loss.
Your abdomen protrudes for a number of reasons - poor diet, blockages etc... so go and see your doctor to get that checked out if your body weight is normal for your size - you may actually be underweight.
If conventional exercise doesn't appeal, try yoga, martial arts, dancing classes, etc... the purpose being to make you more mobile and thereby burn off the excess fat that is most likely to be causing your abdomen to stick out.
Of course, you could always get a pair of hipsters and flaunt it as a feature.
(I'm kidding, right!)

Well, right now my abdomen is protruding due to be pregnant (lol), but pre-baby I had really good abs (very flat and firm). As hard as it was, I really cut down on the white bread (i.e. loaf bread, biscuits, cookies, cakes, etc. - anything made with flour). It was tough, but that really helped. Afterall, why do they call it a bread basket - that's where it all sits. Next I started a neat salsa dance dvd. That did WONDERS! I hate crunches... hardly ever did them. If salsa is too woosie for you, maybe try Hip Hop Abs or Turbo Jam.

Best of luck on the tummy! :-)

I use the Zone of Barry Sears, which is not a diet but a life style, and I find it wery good. I'm losing weight, slowly but continuously; I was 101 kg and now I'm around 71 kg after 1 year and half, and I feel GOOD!! Good luck, Marta

Try to reduce Carbohydrates from you diet, eat minimal amount of carbs for lunch and try to skip carbs like roti, rice, pasta, bread and patatoes for dinner. Do 30 mintus of cardio every day, and crunches there after. You have to lose complete body fat, you cannot only lose fat around your stomach.
