The Bible tells us the earth is round:
Isaiah 40:22 - It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Anyone who claims that the Bible tells us the earth is flat is just ignorant.
There is no way to determine the exact dates or time periods in scripture. Many of the genealogies do not contain specific ages, although some do. Where there is no age of a parent when the birth of a child is described estimates are used.
There is only a single creation story, what some people call the "second creation story" is more of a detailed account of specific things that happened during creation.
Why people think that people who wrote things thousands of years ago should use the same writing style that is popular today is beyond me.
I guess with the public school system there is no reason for me to expect people to be educated.

I am a Christian and I believe God created the Heavens and Earth, If someone claims to be a Christian but refuses to believe that God is the creator, then they are not living the life the bible tells them to leave. That doesn't mean they aren't a Christian or a good person, just that they are ignoring one of the main beliefs of Christianity. Only God knows their hearts, so we can't judge. All we can do is live the lifestyle. Being Christian doesn't mean you are perfect, just means you are saved. Thanks for the question and have a wonderful day. :) As for the question posed by John C above, the verses listed are both the same account. The latter is just a more detailed account. Thanks.

Due to the fact that these
Christians use the Protestant Old Testament which is lacking 7 entire books 2 (Tobias, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach, Baruch, I Maccabees, and II Maccabees), 3 chapters of Daniel and 6 chapters of Esther may be one of the reasons they ask catholics so many questions.
For the Sola Scriptura this is too bad .
In the 16th c., Luther removed those books from the canon that lent support to orthodox doctrine, relegating them to an appendix. Removed in this way were books that supported such things as:
prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45),
Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7),
intercession of dead saints (2 Maccabees 15:14),
and intercession of angels as intermediaries (Tobit 12:12-15).
The lesson, though, is this: relying on the "Bible alone" is a bad idea; we are not to rely solely on Sacred Scripture to understand Christ's message. While Scripture is "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it is not sufficient for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. It is the Church that is the "pillar and ground of Truth" (1 Timothy 3:15)! Jesus did not come to write a book; He came to redeem us, and He founded a Sacramental Church through His apostles to show us the way. It is to them, to the Church Fathers, to the Sacred Deposit of Faith, to the living Church that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and to Scripture that we must prayerfully look.

Who do you think you are to be judging anyone else's beliefs. The same Bible you are mentioning in your silly question says that "God is the only judge", so it's God's problem who have faith and who doesn't.

Your right Shovelhead.
Christians have faith, and believe on His Word.
And Yes ..sadly ... I guess a lot of PEOPLE, not - "Christians" - just don't have enough faith in the Word of God.

The answer is here. Surprising no bible scholar seem to know that the Genesis creation and flood stories were taken from the Sumerian enuma-elish and atrahasis.

Maybe it's more like they don't have faith in your interpretation of the word of god. Ever think about that?

I believe it with all my heart......
God created everything in a literal 6 days and rested on the 7th
It's called the "Day-Age" theory......although I like to consider it truth and not a theory
There's no way that this planet could ever be millions of years old....no way.....
