This is a true story...I had no idea of the brutality perpetrated upon the Soux in the name of the American government. Why is the truth not more well known? I always thought that Sitting Bull after returning from Canada died of natural, although miserable, causes but he was murdered by the troops..this is a sad, sad story.

Yes, I watched the movie on HBO two weeks ago.

I was WELL aware of the story since my father is from Montana as was very into the Native American History of the Rockies and Black Hills.

It IS sad the way our government behaved towards the Plains tribes post Civil War... but as others point out: Sitting Bull was murdered by tribal-police, not US Troops.

You need to be more precise. Sitting Bull was murdered by Indian Police. He was a great man and a true leader.

And also left-wing propaganda...He was killed by Indian police (actual Indians) after inciting his followeres to murder them when they came to arrest him. The history books never tell you of the countless innocent women and children raped and murdered by Indians and the armed resistance of Indians right up to wounded knee.
