You wonder why we laugh at you and this is why:

YOU ARE WRONG!

Do research outside of the bible.

One thing that lasts for millions of years: the earth! How about this one: the sun! Or this: the moon! Man, I could go on all night doing this.

Ok, maybe I need to be more specific. Humans have been around (in our modern form) for 40,000 years. The first man could not be only 6 thousand years old. Chinese civilization is at least 8 thousand! Are they not people?

primoa1970: I have been reviewing some of your answers and I am blocking you until you prove to me that you have taken steps to improve your intelligence. You have to be the second dumbest person I've come across.

The first dumbest person asked this: "If you don't believe in god, then who do you think died on the cross, a monkey?" LOL

Theists and in particular Christians have always fought science. They almost executed both Copernicus and Galileo for daring to suggest that the Earth was not in fact, the center of the Universe.

Even when presented with unfailing evidence, they will kick and scream until they find (read - manufacture), some passage in the bible that can 'support' the current science.

Eventually, they will also have to accept that the Earth is actually many millions of years old. They will find something in the bible to back it up, and come up with some wacky god speak to explain why it took them so long to catch up with the reat of the human race.

I really do not know how anybody can believe the earth is only thousands of years old.

I have done research both inside and outside the Bible. Light from the Andromeda nebula can be seen on a clear night in the northern hemisphere. It takes about 2,000,000 years for that light to reach earth. This is an obvious indication that the universe must be at least millions of years old.

Here is something that may be a new thought to you and others: the Bible is totally silent on the age of the earth. It simply says at Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning (no date mentioned), God created the heavens and the earth." Beginning with verse 2, we read about the PREPARATION of earth for habitation. Not the CREATION of earth, but the PREPARATION. Chasm of difference between the two.

So the fact that scientists date the earth to billions of years does not in any way contradict or violate the account in Genesis.

this is a question that may never be settled as we know that the earth and other planets are millions of years old . The world may have been created in 6 days , but these days were really, really long. We have found proof conclusive that the earth is millions of years old , through fossilized remains of dinosaurs, fish excetera but there are people who dismiss this information and only want to believe what they want to. Just be careful when you go out for a walk you don't fall off the edge of this flat planet

The hysterical springing to defend the bible is just so funny.

I mean, it isn't even self consistent.

And as a source of scientific fact its a total non starter. The point those in its defence glibly gloss over is that science is based on independent observation - so you can repeat the observation, view it independent of any written work etc. the biblical literalists have no choice but to disbelieve the evidence of their own senses in order to cling feebly to a few fallible words in a book.

I used to think people who answered supporting the 6000 year old Earth myth were doing it to support their faith.

I now see with shock that there are actually people who steadfastly believe literally that the Earth was indeed only 6000 years old.

I know for certain this is untrue, because my family, the only family in human history to have the title "divine holly (holy) ones" is over 6500 years old!

The cuilleain, are the first Priest Kings of the Neolithic age- in whose blood runs the kings of Ebla (Adamu, Abrahamu, etc)

In whose veins runs the Hyksos Kings and the only surviving bloodlines of the Kings of Judah through Princess Tamar, daughter of Zedekiah.

Gee, planets, stars, David Bowie's codpiece. I can think of lots of things that last millions of years. (To the first poster...)

The people who believe the earth is only a few thousand years old also believe that an invisible person in the sky who is both omniscisent and all-powerful but still incredibly human (jealousy, hatred, vengance) created us all to sit around and kill eachother in his name. Because a 2,000 year old collection of stories told them so. And you wonder why they believe weird things? Logic is much too late for some.

The same way they believe a man gave birth to a woman and snakes talk and eating a piece of fruit can give you wisdom

It is pretty odd how they find their *proof* of things in the buybull..what's even funnier to trip off of: a believer using a biblical passage to *prove* another biblical passage true

I personally think that such beliefs cause brain damage

Geology and astrology proves the earth and universe to be billions of years old.

Genesis shows that Adam was created almost 6K years ago. The time of the earth's creation is not mentioned.

Funny how Genesis apologists ignore the fact that the creation and flood stories were copied from the Sumerian Enuma-elish and Atrahasis.

Here's a thought-
When believing anything about the Bible, how about getting all your research FROM the Bible?
There is within the Bible a chronology written in, which if followed through will reveal the age of the Earth.
