Any opinions on which one is the better buy overall?

It depends on your personal definition of 'better buy'.

The Mariner is an SUV and the Edge is a CUV.
Since the Edge is brand new and has a higher sticker price overall, it is going to be more expensive.
However, it also is much bigger and has better options (and more of them).

The Mariner will likely have better price incentives since it has been out for a couple of years. I would recommend looking at edmunds.com to see expert and customer reviews. Good luck.

Ouch. Both very good SUV's or CUV's. Don't know which to pick. If you are looking for a Mariner, make sure you are looking for the 2008 so it has the most up-to-date technology and features. The Ford Edge is a really good crossover SUV (CUV). It is a great family car and has ggood gas mileage while it also ride smooth and queit. The same goes with the Mariner. But you can get a hybrid for the Mariner and not for the Edge. You will just have to go out and test drive them or research the more on the internet to see which one's better for your needs.

From those two options i would choose the edge. You might not like toyota but i would also check out the new highlander that will be coming out. You can see it on the toyota site. This crossover suv is one of the most reliable and the new model looks nicer than this years. Its also built on the toyota camrys base so its a good ride.

They are both ford products. Mercury is usually better built and the truck space looks bigger. In my opinion the Edge looks ugly.
