We had been dating for almost 4 months our relationship had been going smoothley and then she went back to her hometown on the other side of the country. When she came back she was really distant and didn't seem interested in me anymore. The second day she got back from her trip she said that she didn't need a boyfriend right now and wanted to break up. Is there a chance that things could work out for us in the future?

She has already made herself clear about the relationship. Let her go. There are a lot of singles girls out there, and you'll find someone. She may have met someone while away.

Sorry, I think that you are on your way out. She has decided either to just be single and have a good time, or to date someone else. If she said that there was nothing in the relationship for her, I think you might want to rethink how you treat your ladies. Evidently you were doing something wrong.
Not enough attention?
Not enough attention in bed?
Taking her for granted?
Not sensitive enough to her feelings?
Not considering doing things that she enjoyed doing?
and on, and on. and on.

If you think about it, maybe you can do better next time. Remember that relationships take work. If you don't want to put the effort into them, they will not last, unless you find someone that is desperate.
