Can any one help please,
My girl dog had a litter that i re homed, im very fussy over my dogs all of them. a visit them to see how things are going an how there owners are doing. it being only the first year.
I went last week to see Mucker. he is a strong dog but will need carming. the owner said they had taken mucker to the vets to see to his paw that had become sore an red. the vet had told him that Mucker suffers from Athele's foot (paw) an will do every summer, they gave them some cream. i went back again yesterday. an his foot is worse, very swollen an red he has white paws an each of his toe lines is fat an sitting high. i am very worried an have been looking on this net for three hour's and found nothing on dogs Athletes paws,. im now wondering if they have made a mistake an it could be a grass seed or something. Any help for him please i would be forever grateful. Mea.X

He has an infection without a doubt....you need to get him some penicillin as soon as you can. I have lived on a farm and taken care of animals all my life, but I am not a vet....but I am sure that he needs penicillin.

Gravel works nicely. Find something visually appealing to you. The larger rocks (about 1/2 inch or an inch diameter) will probably work better than tiny pebbles as they don't scatter as easily. Or you can get bark chips if you prefer the look. As for grass I don't know. Dipping your dogs' legs in a bucket of water and then wiping with a dry cloth might pull the mud off more quickly than just a damp towel if you can't find a solution to the grass.

i thought about this for a long time and decided that whenever Mucker goes on walks try putting on the cream and putting on doggy shoes. In the winter it is usually the salt on the ground from the snow that hurts the dogs paws. If the booties don't work maybe try not taking him outside. If you can, play with him inside. You are right it could be the seeds.

In 20 years on the job I've never heard of Athletes foot in a dog. They can get yeast infections on their feet, but it shouldn't be red and swollen. It sounds like he may have fractured something in his foot. Needs a different vet visit.

Sounds to me the vet told them he had some sort of fungus and associated it to being similar to athletes foot for them to better understand. I personally never heard of dogs getting it but, I have heard of infections and fungus growth occurring in animals that stand in pens that haven't been cleaned properly.
