No not at all, as long as the car is not a works vehicle. If its for personal use, driving to and from work, you can still smoke and the other person can say nothing....

Madi, you are totally wrong in your answer, read the law on the smoking ban before you give stupid answers..It is his private car like its his private house... if he takes someone in the car then it is still private so he can smoke, same as his house, if poeple come round and he smokes they can't stop him... its PRIVATE and his..!!!!!!!!!! it is the other persons choice to whether they want a lift and if they don't like smoking then catch the bus or get a taxi..

If you drive your mate to work for a living, the car should be smoke-free. If you're not fussy and anyone can hop in and out of your car, it should be smoke-free. If it's a private arrangement between you and your mate, it's up to you.

Simple answer is this.

If it`s a Company car it`s no smoking.

If it`s a private car free to smoke.

Thanks a bunch Labour, I`m so glad that you now do all of my thinking for me. It gives me much more time to dwell on the loss of my right to make an informed choice.
Can you please now tell me what TV I should watch and what News Paper I should read. Then you can make me pay even more tax to give away to deserving causes like "lesbian mothers for liberation of captive hamsters" (I am making this cause up ok, no offence meant to any real Hamster liberation front no matter what there sexuality).

No, it's a private arrangement, he doesn't have to ride with you. Your car is neither a public place nor your place of work (unless it's a company car).

actually it is considered public if there is anyone besides the named driver in the vehicle 2...if it was just u it would be classed as private..but ur mate being there no longer makes it private...

for exmaple smoking club is still public and has2be banned even thought it is a smokling club but if it was members only it would be private and couldnt get banned...do u understand what im trying 2say..?

if not get in touch

If it is your car. You can decide who if anyone smokes in it. If he/she is not happy with this let them get the bus. And if they want to smoke in your car and you DONT want them to, Tell them you dont want your car to smell like an ashtray, If they are not happy with this let them get the bus. Simple
