There are no problems doing this, macs have inbuilt Windows browsing. I have large networks using Different versions of Windows, Macs and Linux machines, all served from the same server, most of the severs are running Linux, with the Samba Windows server activated as a domain controller.

If by "Server" you mean "Router" (they're very different) no problems whatsoever.

it is entirely os independent.
Unless you want to run programs on the computers
The internet is one giant network with all kinds of different oss running
It should not matter
