I was always tought that the key to playing as a running back is strength and high-knees!

Building upper body strength will make you harder to knock-over, it's probably best achieved on weights in the gym but training with some of your team's lineman and trying to push them about would help.

As for running, there's the old running through tyres trick, forcing you to pick your legs up high. Also try running with your hands out in front and trying to 'knee' your palms.

When anyone comes into tackle you, just keep your legs pumping and you'll be surprised how often that jumps you out of a tackle.

Final option (which I managed by accident / University lifestyle!) is to get a bit fatter and suddenly find yourself as the starting D-end!

idc what that one guy said, its all about lower body strength. If you have strong legs, when someone comes to hit you, just drop your butt, bend your knees and you can absorb a huge hit without being moved. Everything starts with the legs, so I would suggest working on those 1st

find a big dog... pull it's tail and then see how much faster you run with it behind you. Alternatively, mention to your girlfriend that 'yes - she does look fat in that' and then you'll get practice running and catching!
