HELP........!

2007-06-13 23:41:54 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

Its all about phisics. As far as I can remember sound is like an energy wave and travels through vibrating particles. This energy travels like so and disperses and as it does so the energy gets used up and eventualy stops vibrating particles in it path.

Different sounds impact us differently. 'Normal' sound waves disperse and the energy is used up by the time it gets to our ears (which have drums that vibrate) we of course here less with sounds that have a low impact. but high pitch or extremly loud sounds vibrate beyond getting to us. The energy is not used up and is still there and so carrys on vibrating particles in its path whichever way it disperses and which is why with loud sounds we sometimes feel vibrations inside us or our ears cannot take the extreme energy being used in them.

Hope this makes sense, I used to be so good at physics and don't know why I didn't take it up. And these are the small regrets I have in my life but hey I'm still alive!

edit- and mr know it all above explains quite correctly it ends up as small amounts of heat. hmmm, the memories, its all coming back to me!

Things make sounds by vibrating. The vibrations are carried - usually through the air - and reach our ears where they trigger nerves that tell our brains we're hearing something. The vibrations in the air continue until they are absorbed by "soft" materials where it is turned into a very small amount of heat. The vibrations that enter your ears are also lost as tiny amounts of heat - but not enough to make your ears burn.

Sound's a wave. anyone who has dropped a stone into water knows that the waves slowly peter out, losing their intensity over time and distance. The same happens with sound.

Sound is carried on a wave. You hear it as it flows past you and keeps on going. I guess it keeps going until the wave runs out of energy and stops. Or perhaps it keeps going to infinity - which is kind of a cool idea.

My parents, elders, bosses, and teachers were all correct.

The sound goes out my other ear.

Uh, what was your question?
