Do you know someone who would find £40 and feel like they had won the lottery, ie that it would make so much more difference to their lives than you? To you it is a lovely windfall, and finding it will probably give you more pleasure than spending it.
Look around you - do you have a neighbour who you know is struggling, someone who has children in poverty.
How great will you feel if you put that £40 somewhere for them to find and keep without guilt, perhaps an anonymous donation through their door, or drop it somewhere for them to find? Watch their face as they discover it - you will get more joy from that than from a curry or a few pints, and the feeling will last a lifetime, not a few hours!
I would agree that you should use a £1 to buy a lottery ticket in case you are on a roll! Have a great day!

Squander it on something fun. Or something that has lasting fun. If you squander it on fun then your mind will remember to put more money in your old clothes, and like the boomerang effect you will find yourself with more and more money to be found.

Good on ya mate! as the Aussies say. Wait before you squander it think I bought a 160gig external hard drive (very useful) for $60.00 US on sale. You have that and then some. When I get that kind of windfall I always try to get practical toys (to bend the phrase).

A new pair of jeans and put maybe $50 inside the backpocket.Then chuck it in the cupboard for half a year.When u find it (finally) give urself a pleasant suprise.

do not squander it. use it to do good for others or bue a serprise gift for a friend.
I found a £10 note under my bed while sweeping this morning not yet thought what I will use it for.

buy something totally for luxery only, NO practical stuff. get something you always wanted but never thought you could justify wasting £40 on.
