If someone tells you that you have crossed the line then it means you have gone too far, that you have done something wrong. example if you best friends told you a secret and you went off and told everyone you have crossed the line.

It doesn't mean anything necessarily satanic. The history is that St. Peter (If I remember correctly) was going to be crucified but thought he didn't deserve to die the same way Jesus did, and chose to be crucified upside down. It originally was just another Christian symbol. Since then it has been changed and represents anything that isn't Christian. Like Hinduism, Atheism, Agnosticism, etc.. It is, however, a common misconception that it is a Satanic sign.

Interesting fact. People who were martyred back in the days of early Christianity were often killed by being nailed to a cross and then the cross was turned upside down. When one is martyred (like Jesus) on a right-side-up cross then you die by suffocation. (Your body has to hold itself up in order to maintain airflow to your lungs and eventually your muscles get too worn out.) However on the upside-down cross you can't suffocate so the death is much slower and more painful as you die through starvation.

If someone crosses the line at work, they get fired. If someone crosses the line with their behavior in public, they go to jail.
It is when you have done something offense to the point where reconciliation is not possible.
