If the McCanns had arranged for the sitting service, do you think Madeleine would have still been kidnapped ? What do think would have happened if she had, while she was under their care.?

The babtysitting service consists of a Monitoring system.I believe also they call in at 20 minute intervals.

It was not intended as a hurtful remark.I asked the question because I was comparing the difference between the way the babysitting service was offered and I felt the McCanns thought that they could do it as well their selves. In other words do you feel Mark Warners services are sufficient for their customers needs in care facilities ?Are they offering a below par service and will they be forced to review it in the future, did The McCanns fall into a trap as regards this ? I am merely looking at the facts.

I don't know what the babysitting service provided, so it's hard to say whether this thing would still have happened or not.
What I will NEVER understand is why the kids weren't with them at the restaurant. They could have been asleep in pushchairs etc. I thought that was the point of family holidays, especially considering that I understand the McCanns have a full-time nanny so don't get to see much of their kids anyway.

#Thanks for the info. It's still not like somebody actually being in the room with the kids is it? So it could still possibly have happened. God knows what the consequences for the hotel would have been if the service had been used and this thing had still happened. At least financial ruination I should think.

Yes, without a doubt they should have used the facilities - is that not the whole point of taking this kind of holiday.

I read that Mark Warner have two facilities for babysitting. I think the company issued a statement on this soon after Madeleine disappeared.

The first is a creche, where you take your kids in their pjs then pick them up when you've finished your meal.

The other is a proper babysitting service, where you pay a small fee for a babysitter to sit with your children.

Either way, Madeleine would be here if the parents had taken the proper steps to ensure the safety and care of their kids.

It wasn't reckless. Obviously certain people answering on this question aren't mothers. I am.
Most moms are paranoid freaks when it comes to leaving their kids. I am sure that if Madeleine's mom even considered any danger to her children, she'd never have left them. We don't use babysitters ourselves but our kids do go to school where we can't sit beside them or stand on the playground with them every day, all day.
Unfortunately we can't watch our kids 24/7. What happens when they are in school? Bad things happen there too! Look at school shootings. We need to work on changing our world and dealing with the jerks out there harshly and severely, who hurt children. Punishing parents isn't the answer...unless there is proof of negligence. This isn't one of those cases.

Yes, I believe it could have happened. I heard that it is just someone who comes to the door, and listens. They don't even go in.
I read this after the McCann little girl went missing and a woman found a little child walking around. She took the little child back to her/his room and waited for the parent's return. During that time, she heard someone come to the door and listen. It was the monitoring service.
If she is correct, then yes, the child could easily have been stolen.

I really feel for them. They made a very wrong decision but they will have to live with it for the rest of their lives. Whats done is done and nothing can change that, i just hope they find her alive and well. I do think they should've got a babysitter though, No one should leave children on their own regardless of their age.

Of course they should have.
Maybe something would still have happened to Madeleine, maybe it wouldn't. But we'll never know now.
What is happened is terrible, but the McCanns should have been more responsible. Or responsible at all.
