I would say Yuvraj Singh. Simple fact, he's been in the side for over 7 years now and can be considered a senior in terms of experience. Another potential could be but not really sure about him, Mohammed Kaif. He is in and out of the team but has the skills and a mind like Mohammed Azharuddin. But I would say Yuvraj Singh coz he has come up of late as a clutch performer and a consistent batsman in the middle order. He has matured from a brooding youngster to a responsible member of the Indian side. And above that he is a regular member of the side except when he is sidelined by injury. He will continue to grow and can provide a long term solution for the captaincy role. He is only 25 and has a long way to go and has been through highs and lows of Indian team for the past 7-8 years. And above that he has some experience as stand in for the current captain, Rahul Dravid. He is also an excellent fielder and guide to the young members of the side. And above that a handy spinner. Unlike Sehwag, he is not explosive and doesn't get a lot of credit for his contributions but Sehwag has not really shown performances of late so I doubt his ability to inspire the team when needed. Yuvraj has done that consistently over the last couple of years. He still has a long way to go and can benefit from the current senior players input. So hands down let's hope it's Yuvraj for next Indian captain.

1st of all I must tell u that Dravid is a very good captain.
Now on to ur question.......
After Dravid.............
I think that the candidates should be
1. Yuvraj
2. Dhoni
3. Sewag
I must tell u that it wont be nessecory to mension Tendulkar & Gangully in the above list coz v all know about their captancy.
Well......
My selection would be YUVRAJ....
Now he is a matured player.
He knows his responsibilities.
It seems that he has got a 'leadership' in himself.
When v consider abour Dhoni, still he is not experienced enough.
We can see his aggresiveness.
Although it is very early, I would select him as the vice-captain.

I will say Mahendra Singh Dhoni.......,because The spectacular arrival of Virender Sehwag was bound to inspire others to bat with the same mindset. But the odds of a clone emerging from the backwaters of Jharkhand, whose state side has consistently scraped the bottom, was highly remote. That was until Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrived. He can be swashbuckling with the bat and secure with the wicketkeeping gloves. His neck-length hair adds to his dash. Though Dhoni made his first-class debut in the 1999-2000 season, it was only in 2004 that he became a serious contender for national selection with some stirring performances when the occasion demanded - a rapid hundred which helped East Zone clinch the Deodhar Trophy and an audacious 60 in the Duleep Trophy final. But it was with his two centuries against Pakistan A, in the triangular tournament in Kenya, that he established himself as a clinical destroyer of bowling attacks. In just his fifth one-dayer, against Pakistan at Vishakapatnam, he cracked a dazzling 148 - putting even Sehwag in the shade - and followed that up with a colossal 183 not out at Jaipur against Sri Lanka in November, when he broke Adam Gilchrist's record for the highest score by a wicketkeeper in ODIs. He made an instant impact on the Test level too, pounding 148 at Faisalabad, in only his fifth Test, when India were struggling to avoid the follow on, and established himself as one of the critical members of a revitilised side. Though he struggled with the bat in the West Indies, he wicketkeeping was top-class, especially when standing up to the stumps against the spinners.

Yuvaraj Singh, M.S. Dhoni and Dinesh Kartik are the main contenders for future captain of India. However, final choice willfall on who among them perform well consistently and cement his place in the team.

I would put it not on a major contributor, but one person i would like to see have a go it definetly Yuvraj if e is a bit older, and maybe kaif if he gets in form, because he will feild thw whole other side out by himself. Maybe abowler, pure for once, why not make history!
