It's called "The Pursuit of Happyness", but the word is usually spelled with an "i". I haven't seen it, but I've wondered why they did that.

It's probably explained in the movie, right?

I am dyslexic so i use the spell check all the time , and sometimes choose the wrong spelling from the multi choice that is given, but the "kind" people on Y/A soon point it out to me .... so yes i do feel like an idiot never mind an nincompoop :)

It was spelled that way in the movie.
The Chinese day care center in the movie spelled it incorrectly on the sign outside their building.
Will Smiths Character kept pointing out the error to no avail.

Because the owner of the daycare was Chinese and could not spell it properly... I'm sure there is some sort of significance but as it was based on a true story then I wouldn't be surprised if it was just spelt incorrectly.

It's the name of a location in the film.

"It was the misspelled name of the son's daycare. Will Smith's character refers to it several times during the movie, one of which was right before he and his son share their nicknames and the meanings of those nicknames. Also, the name is painted on the front window of the daycare and can be clearly seen at times."
