Study different rhythms and practice using them SLOWLY - then speed them up.

Expose your self to different music. Spend a few minutes every time you play to create something new. When you think about playing (daydreaming)include new patterns when you think about it (thinking reduces actual repetitions needed when playing to get it automatic).
Just have fun and enjoy, that is the MOST important thing. I find I play at a certain skill level and don't seem to progress like a plateau, then I'll all of a sudden get a lot better and then another plateau. Don't get discourage just keep playing and enjoy. You will get better, just take a little time ever time you play to challenge yourself.
