Not sure about the need for Chemistry in primary, however if you apply for secondary - you will be welcomed with open arms as there is a massive shortage of science teachers in the UK! You will also be able to train as you work by doing a Graduate Teacher Programme.

I don't think there is a requirement for chemistry teachers at primary level in the UK. But you will make a valuable contribution at the high school level in some poor village in India helping some of the Dalit children to have a good education. Hopefully they will then be able to break the tyranny of the Brahmins.

Over qualified !
Primary prefer a broader subject degree as you will need to teach all subjects. No experience with primary kids will also go against you. Primary has LOTS of good candidates each year.
Re Teacher shortages, not really in primary, tends to be in the inner city areas, but again why would a head teacher choose someone with no inner city experience, no pupil experience. You would have to pay for your PGCE in a UK University without a guarrantee of a job.

You might get a job in the private sector but in the public sector you will need a validated teaching qualification.

You'll need to do a PGSE qualification, that'll take a year. Most universitys do them.
