He has all of the movie books about "The Fast & The Furious" and likes those types, but I would like for him to read other types of books that might have "cool" cars related to them.

There is an old book that was required reading when my parents were in school called "Car Club". Haven't seen it around lately, tried to do an amazon search to give you the author's name and couldn't wade through the 7000 hits.

Its about a group of kids from the 1950's that soup up cars and race them. I found it very interesting as a kid because it would explain differences in compression, heads, gear ratios, all in an entertaining fictional account.

It also has a darker side to it (which is why it was required reading in schools), as they also show the bad side to street racing.

Good luck finding it, but its well worth the search.

Hot-wheels are awesome gift for birthday present. That might make more crazy.
