Too many unknown factors to give you a good answer.

You don't indicate your relationship to the man or the girl; from the way the question is worded, it doesn't sound like you are the mother.

You also don't indicate if you are willing to take this girl in and assist or take care of her full time, or how old she is as that has a huge bearing on how much care she needs.

If you are not the mother and you feel the child is being neglected, the you could contact Child Protective Services to do an investigation and keep in touch with the case worker.

If the girl is not your daughter, but related to you in another way, or even a good friend of one of your children, a better solution might be to have a heart to heart chat with the Dad expressing your concern and offering to help, but indicate that you expect him to help out financially as it is not fair to your own family to take on the financial burden and come to an agreement, preferably in writing. If he is overwhelmed, he is likely to take you up on a generous offer like that if he has the money to spare.

If you want child support the proper way then the Court system will monitor it and make sure you get it. The Court will protect you (the mother) by making sure it is paid and protect the father by showing that he is paying it if a disput arises. Ultimately, the Court protects the daughter as it has the best interests of the child in mind.

Good morning ,Don here. Should you take a prosecution against a man who is not taking care of his daughter. Firstly your concern appear ts to be in relation to the daughter, and ,forgive me should I be barking up the wrong tree, but I feel that you have feeling of sorts for this girl. She may be or have been a girlfriend,or have held some place in your affection, she may even be your own daughter and may now be residing ,with or without her mother ,with this man .Whatever reason ,and what I am getting however close she is ,or was to you ,you ought not have to take any direct ( on your part ) legal action against this man . Firstly you must take your concern over this girls ill treatment to the child abuse team in your local council. They will investigate your concern ,and take relevant action ,to rectify any abuse /lack of care ,that the girl is having to endure. Bear in mind that this girl may not be imparting the whole truth to you ,should she have your ear as a person of sympathy. Again a good reason to relate the facts ( as you have them ) to the professionals. You ,yourself ,appear to be a person who really cares as to the maltreatment of others ,and on that I take my hat off to you . Take notice ,impart your findings ,but do not ever take direct action . It could rebound against yourself .Good luck ,Don

Do I detect a whiff of sour grapes here? If you're concerned for a minor's welfare, talk to Social Services. If he's not maintaining payments, talk to the CSA.

Ask first the opinion of a legal counsel before you make the next step. He is more knowledgeable on what to do.

Every man is entitled to help with the maintenance towards the upbringing of their child. Why are you even asking the question? Its no more than his daughter deserves.

Take his low life butt to court, he deserves it. What make men think they can just walk away from their responsibility's! If he is not offering to help and he dont want to be there physically than financially he should be. Men get away with to much when it comes to taking care of his children.
