There are no small roles, only small actors. If you are a true actor you can adapt to any role and be anyone, which should be your goal.
If you are just in the biz for fame and fortune, you are destinated for a huge disappointment; the average for Screeen Guild Actors per year is about $7,000. You will always be "on" and looking for your next job. You need to be willing to relocate to where the jobs are, most auditions to get the most exposure are in NY,NY and LA, CA.
