I'll break down a couple things you can do get your computer working the way it was originally. If you using your laptop for normal stuff and not gaming. You got a good setup. You don't need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.
First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while, you should. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events has a key. and that key need your PC's resources. So, if you should clean this up. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.
2. Clear your Windows cache files, this your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space.
3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig.
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",
click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"
Other great tip is increasing your virtual memory to simulate more RAM. This will give you a bit more resources for multiple program use or CPU heavy programs. Check the link to alter your virtual memory spec.
Hope this link helps. Shows you how to do everything step by step. You should get a least 50% more resources and speed
if you follow the tips.

I would suggest PC HealthBoost and PC SpeedBoost. I am so glad I invested in this program. It is also good to know that this company provides many suggestions on how to help speed up your computer, fix errors, etc. My computer’s overall performance was poor. Every time I started my computer it would take a century to load. Once my computer finally loaded it took me forever to search web pages because the speed was so poor. I did some research and found this program and thought I would give it a try because it was very affordable and I did not have the money to take it to a computer shop. Once I installed the program which took a matter of minutes I then proceeded to have my system scanned for errors. Once my errors were detected and fixed I could already tell the difference in my speed and my computer’s performance. I was truly amazed. Thanks again for the great program and information to help with your computer’s speed.

no longer over all, no. The own computing device is loaded at logon. If there is particularly some stuff on there it slows down the preliminary loading yet after that this is there and that's the tip of it. look at it this form: your equipment is going to load the own computing device no remember what. That own computing device is a definite length (say 1024x768, it particularly is consumer-friendly). It has to load the information for all 786,432 pixels no remember what. Then it plenty the icons, their positions and ultimately the hyperlink information for the icons. as quickly as all it particularly is loaded this is performed with it. From there on out protecting the own computing device photograph is self sufficient of the style of goods on there.

1: compress files so you will save disk space
2: Make sure there are no viruses
3: If space is a problem for you, consider a portable hard drive. They run a little pricey, but if you put all your files onto it, your pc will run much smoother
4: Be up to date with all updates, video cards, etc.
5: Upgrade to higher systems
