Dan Rather is just jealous because Katie Couric did not follow his style. The thing is, that's exactly the reason why the network hired Katie--to entice the younger audience to watch the news.
The thing with Dan Rather is that he's old and the younger generation is turned off by him.
Dan Rather just couldn't accept that he's a thing of the past and that Katie is the present.

I'm 61 & I never cared for Dan Rather - too intense for my taste. I feel sorry for Katie. CBS has been #3 since Cronkite left & will probably remain that way no matter who they get. We are creatures of habit & probably very few change the network where they watch the evening news.

No; the real tart is Dan, who dumbed it down after Cronkite left. Katie just continued the trend . . .

I don't know about her being a tart, she sure annoys me.
Her voice is very annoying.
